The CLAREMONT HILLS originally had a number of architect-designed homes, as well as many not-so-significant houses. Starting in 1906 residents walked down hillside trails to the Claremont Hotel. They could catch the train which went as far as the Bay. At that point, people took the ferry into SF. After the 1991 Fire, the majority of structures burned. In their place contemporary upscale homes were built, many with SF Bay Views..
